Kinner Akhada

A symbol of change within Sanatan Dharma

Kinner Akhada represents an important and historic change within Sanatan Dharma. Its main purpose is to bring back the pride and dignity of the Kinner (transgender) community, who were once described in scriptures as divine beings but gradually lost their respected place in society. The mission is to restore that ancient status and reconnect them with the spiritual mainstream.

Return to spiritual roots

During the Mughal period, many Kinners lost connection with their original traditions and spiritual roots. Kinner Akhada aims to help the community return to Sanatan Dharma and rebuild their lost identity and values.

Empowerment and welfare

The Akhada believes in using the Kinner community’s strength and energy for good. It encourages them to work for self-improvement and social service, bringing positive change to society.

Spiritual identity and inclusion

A key goal is to help Kinners recognize their spiritual identity and be included in mainstream society. Everyone deserves respect and the right to live with dignity, faith and pride in who they are.

Recognition as the 14th Akhada

Traditionally, there were 13 Akhadas, based only on male and female identities. The Kinner Akhada was established to give the Kinner community its rightful place as the 14th Akhada. This historic milestone was achieved during the Ujjain Simhastha (Kumbh Mela) in 2016, thanks to the leadership and vision of Shri Rishi Ajay Das Ji, who founded the Akhada on 13 October 2015.

Our Motto: “Seva Paramo Dharmah” (Service is the highest duty)

This guiding principle inspires all activities of Kinner Akhada. For Kinners, by Kinners, for the welfare of all Kinner Akhada is led by and for the Kinner community. Its vision is of a world where everyone gets equal respect, opportunity and spiritual identity.
